Missing key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct passage to the last 16, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity
This match offered a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.
A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season were outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.
Control Established from the Outset
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
